    Se registra la especie Munidopsis cubensis para el mar Caribe sur, Colombia, a partir de un espécimen recolectado con red de arrastre en noviembre de 2009, costa afuera de Punta Canoa (Bolívar), a 776 m de profundidad. Se presentan los caracteres diagnósticos de la especie y se añade información sobre su distribución y ámbitos batimétrico y geográfico. Con este nuevo registro se aumenta a 24 el número de especies de Munidopsis registradas para Colombia. Munidopsis cubensis is reported for the first time for the Southern Caribbean Sea, Colombia. The specimen was collected in November 2009, using a trawl, offshore of Punta Canoa (Bolívar) at a depth of 776 m. We present the species diagnostic characters, as well as its distribution and bathymetric and geographic information. This record increases to 24 the number of known species of Munidopsis in Colombia.

    El estudio de humedales de alta montaña presenta un gran interés en la Península Ibérica ya que son elementos singulares herencia de la última glaciación, y además albergan biocenosis muy relevantes en biogeografía y conservación por su aislamiento y singularidad. En este trabajo se desarrolla en detalle la distribución, morfogénesis y tipologías lacustres presentes en el complejo glaciar de Sierra Segundera, situado mayoritariamente en la cabecera del río Tera (NO de Zamora), aguas arriba del lago de Sanabria. Se han catalogado 340 elementos acuáticos en una red de drenaje de 258 km sobre una superficie superior a 10.600 ha, que drena un promedio anual de agua superior a 120 hm3. Se incluyen datos hidrográficos y batimétricos de las 19 lagunas y turberas naturales de mayor tamaño, situadas a una altitud superior a 1500 msnm. En ellas habitan singulares comunidades biológicas, micro y macroscópicas. Los inventarios oscilaron entre 61 y 461 taxones de flora y fauna, considerados en sentido amplio; siendo un mínimo de 67% productores primarios. Se esbozan las presiones globales y locales en sus respectivas cuencas, que de alguna manera comprometen en el futuro su estado de conservación dentro de la red Natura2000, y se describen los posibles impactos pasados y actuales que les afectan negativamente. The study of high mountain wetlands is of great interest in the Iberian Peninsula since they are unique elements inherited from the last glaciation, and they also have very relevant biocenosis in biogeography and conservation due to their isolation, specificity and singularity. In this work, we describe in detail the distribution, morphogenesis and lake typologies present in the Sierra Segundera glacier complex, located mainly at the headwaters of the Tera River (NW of Zamora), upstream of Lake Sanabria. There are 340 aquatic elements catalogued in a drainage network of 258 km over an area of more than 10,600 ha, which drains an annual average of more than 120 hm3 of water. Hydrographic and bathymetric data are included for the 19 largest natural lakes and bogs; located at an altitude of more than 1500 msm. They are inhabited by exceptional biological communities, both micro and macroscopic. Inventories oscillated between 61 and 461 flora and fauna taxa, considered in a wide definition; a minimum of 67% were primary producers. They sketch the global and local pressures in their respective catchments, which in some way compromise their future ecological status within the Natura2000 network, and describe the possible past and current impacts that will negatively affect.

    Authors: Velandia Roncancio, Yuli Carolina;

    Se muestran y evalúan metodologías empíricas desarrolladas en países como Suráfrica, China, Pakistán e Irán, para predecir la distribución longitudinal de los sedimentos gruesos en formaciones tipo delta en embalses, y se aplican a algunos casos colombianos: Betania en el Huila, Prado en el Tolima y La Esmeralda en Boyacá, en distintas épocas, desde el inicio de su operación. Nueve de estas metodologías permiten estimar la pendiente superior del delta y dos la pendiente posterior. La mayoría de estas metodologías requiere abundante información topográfica, hidrológica y sedimentológica, la cual fue difícil de conseguir y no estuvo en su totalidad para el presente análisis. Los métodos de curva de pendientes de Borland (1970) y relaciones J/Jo referidas en WMO (2003) muestran las menores diferencias porcentuales frente a las mediciones realizadas, los demás métodos mostraron resultados que se pueden calificar como aceptables algunos, deficientes otros, pero con diferente precisión en cada embalse considerado. Se observaron tasas de sedimentación entre 3 y 42 hm3/año, colmatación de los embalses hasta del 29%, reducción del volumen útil hasta del 22% y del volumen muerto de hasta 84%, en los casos considerados. Abstract. Empirical methodologies from Southafrica, China, Pakistan and Iran, formulated to predict longitudinal distribution of delta formations in reservoirs, are showed and evaluated in Colombian reservoirs such as Betania in Huila, Prado in Tolima and La Esmeralda in Boyacá, at differents times from start of operations. Nine of those methods allow estimation of topset slope and two foreset slope. Most of the analyzed methodologies need large amounts of topographic, hydrologic and sedimentological data that was difficult to access and not completely available for this analysis. Borland (1970) and relations J/Jo referred in WMO (2003) methods showed the smallest differences with field measurements. Other methods resulted between acceptable and poor but variable on each reservoir. At analyzed cases were observed sedimentation rates between 3 and 42 Hm3/year, reservoir storage reduction up to 29%, usable storage reduction up to 22% and death storage reduction up to 84%.     Authors: S. A. Schmidt; A. Camerlengo;

    A partir de una serie de mediciones de la distribución vertical de corrientes en el área de Punta Médanos, Argentina, se calcularon las características de la fricción interna. El lugar muestra una batimetría inusual, debido a la presencia de bancos alineados de gran tamaño y otras formas menores superpuestas. Las velocidades máximas en el área resultaron del orden de los 50 cm/s y en general siguen la alineación de la costa. Los valoies medios de la viscosidad turbulenta VT resultan del orden de 350 cm2/s. La rugosidad equivalente r es elevada, alcanzando un valor máximo de 63 cm, magnitud del mismo orden de la deducida por Scott y Csanady (1976). Los valores obtenidos para el coeficiente que linealiza las tensiones de fondo A y el coeficiente de Darcy f son de 0.1 cm/s y 0.03, respectivamente. Los resultados indican que los bancos actúan sobre la dirección de las corrientes, pero no en la rugosidad del fondo. Following a series of measurements of the vertical distribution of marine currents in the area of Punta Medanos, Argentina, the characteristics of the internal friction have been calculated. The place presents an unusual bathymetry due to the existence of linear sand-banks and other superimposed minor formations. The maximum velocities in the area are of the order of 50 cm/s and they follow in general the coast line. Turbulent viscosity mean values are of the order of 350 cm²/s. The equivalent roughness r is high, reaching a maximum value of 63 cm, same order of magnitude as that deduced by Scott and Csanady (1976). The values obtained for the coefficient that linearizes the bottom shear stresses A and the Darcy coefficient f are 0.1 cm/s and 0.03, respectively. The results obtained indicate that the banks act upon the currents direction but not on the roughness of the bottom. Facultad de Ingeniería

    Authors: Víctor A. Yzocupea;

    El presente estudio intenta reproducir el patrón hidrodinámico de la Bahía Paracas. El modelamiento hidrodinámico nos permite comprender cómo la circulación responde a la batimetría, a las mareas y al sistema de vientos de la región. Para conseguir esto, se tuvo que conslruir un modelo numérico basado en la aproximación numérica de las ecuaciones bi-dimensionales de flujo de aguas superficiales; Estas ecuaciones son las ecuaciones diferenciales de movimiento en las direcciones X e Y y la ecuación diferencial de continuidad. Las variables dependientes son las velocidades promedio verticales U y V en las direcciones X e Y respectivamente y el nivel del agua TJ, medido respecto al nivel medio del mar.Bt modelo ha sido probado con diversas pruebas teóricas y los resultados estuvieron muy cerca de las soluciones analíticas. Después de estas pruebas, el modelo fue aplicado a la Bahía Paracas. Primero, fue modelado el flujo de mareas utilizando datos de marea como variación del nivel de agua en la frontera abierta. Luego, fue modelado el flujo forzado por el viento utilizando una distribución de viento no uniforme. The present study is an attempt to reproduce the hydrodynamic pattem of Paracas Bay. The bydrodynamic modeling allows us to understand how tbe circulation responds to the bathymetry, tides and wind system of the region. To acbieve tbis, a numerical model had to be conslructed. This model is based on a numerical approximation of the two-dimensional shallow water flow equations. These equations are tbe differential equations of motion in the X and Y direction and the differential equation of continuity. The dependen!variables are the vertica!ly averaged velocities U and V in the X and Y directions respectively, and the water levelll with respect to the mean sea leve!. The model has been tested with severa! theoretical tests and the results were very clase to tbe analytical solutions. After !bese tests, the model has been applied to Paracas Bay. First, the tidal tlow was modeled using historical tidal stage as the water leve!condition at the open boundary. Then, the wind-driven tlow was modeled using a non uniform wind distribution..© 2002 CSI. Al!rights reserved

    International audience; During his journey on the Beagle, Darwin observed the uniformity in the elevation of coastal Eastern Patagonia along more than 2000 km. More than one century later, the sequences of Quaternary shorelines of eastern Patagonia have been described and their deposits dated but not yet interpreted in terms of geodynamics. Consequently, we i) mapped the repartition of the Quaternary coastal sequences in Argentinean Patagonia, ii) secured accurate altitudes of shoreline angles associated with erosional morphologies (i.e. marine terraces and notches), iii) took into account previous chrono-stratigraphical interpretations in order to calculate mean uplift rates since ~440 ka (MIS 11) and proposed age ranges for the higher and older features (up to ~180 m), and iv) focused on the Last Interglacial Maximum terrace (MIS 5e) as the best constrained marine terrace (in terms of age and altitude) in order to use it as a tectonic benchmark to quantify uplift rates along the entire passive margin of Eastern South America. Our results show that the eastern Patagonia uplift is constant through time and twice the uplift of the rest of the South American margin. We suggest that the enhanced uplift along the eastern Patagonian coast that interested Darwin during his journey around South America on the Beagle could originate from the subduction of the Chile ridge and the associated dynamic uplift.

    aalmeida@ulima.edu.pe;aluna@ulima.edu.pe;ljreyes@ulima.edu.pe El levantamiento topográfico del relieve terrestre plantea métodos precisos; sin embargo, el levantamiento de superficies subacuáticas, denominado batimetría, se ha desarrollado de manera incipiente y poco específica en nuestro país. Esta investigación se propone plantear una metodología que aproveche los últimos avances tecnológicos integrados a los drones para el levantamiento del relieve de superficies subacuáticas, con el objetivo de proporcionar información relevante y de calidad para el adecuado monitoreo de las regiones afectadas por las acciones humanas y de la naturaleza. De esta manera, se espera superar la batimetría tradicional consistente en emisión de una onda de sonido, captación de la señal de retorno y procesamiento de la información para la generación de la superficie subacuática.

    Authors: Lizano R., Omar G.;

    The bathymetry of Coco’s Island (UNESCO Natural and Cultural World Patrimony), located approximately 500 km from the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, is not well known. It has a high marine biodiversity and also represents a meeting site for many species traveling throughout the Pacific Ocean. The insular shelf is irregular in extension and also in bathymetric features. The northeast limit is defined by the 109.8-128.1 m contours (60-70 fathoms) while the 183 m contour (100 fathoms) practically defines the rest of the island, from which the depth gradient is steep. The maximum extension is to the northeast with a longitude of 13 km. In this context the present limits of the marine park (5 km), are insufficient to protect the whole insular shelf. Current regulation should be modified to prevent fishing activities less than 15 km from the Island. La batimetría de la Isla del Coco (Patrimonio Mundial Cultural y Natural de la UNESCO), localizada a 500 Km de la costa en el Pacífico de Costa Rica, no es muy conocida. Posee un ambiente de una alta biodiversidad marina y representa además, un sitio de reunión para una gran cantidad de especies que se desplazan por todo el Pacífico. La plataforma insular es irregular tanto en rasgos batimétricos como en extensión. Su límite al nordeste está definido por la isóbata de 109.8- 128.1 m (60-70 brazas), mientras que la isóbata de 183 m (100 brazas) de profundidad define el resto de la isla, a partir de la cual el gradiente de profundidad cambia drásticamente. La máxima extensión la presenta al nordeste con una longitud de aproximadamente 13 km. En este sentido, la ampliación del área marina según el Decreto No. 15514- MAG (14 de junio de 1984), el cual estableció los 1ímites del parque marino en 5 km, no era suficiente para a proteger la mayor parte de la plataforma insular. La regulación actual deberá ser modificada para prohibir las actividades de pesca a una distancia no menor de 15 km desde la isla

    Authors: Morales, Javier; Negro, Ana I.;

    Se muestran y evalúan metodologías empíricas desarrolladas en países como Suráfrica, China, Pakistán e Irán, para predecir la distribución longitudinal de los sedimentos gruesos en formaciones tipo delta en embalses, y se aplican a algunos casos colombianos: Betania en el Huila, Prado en el Tolima y La Esmeralda en Boyacá, en distintas épocas, desde el inicio de su operación. Nueve de estas metodologías permiten estimar la pendiente superior del delta y dos la pendiente posterior. La mayoría de estas metodologías requiere abundante información topográfica, hidrológica y sedimentológica, la cual fue difícil de conseguir y no estuvo en su totalidad para el presente análisis. Los métodos de curva de pendientes de Borland (1970) y relaciones J/Jo referidas en WMO (2003) muestran las menores diferencias porcentuales frente a las mediciones realizadas, los demás métodos mostraron resultados que se pueden calificar como aceptables algunos, deficientes otros, pero con diferente precisión en cada embalse considerado. Se observaron tasas de sedimentación entre 3 y 42 hm3/año, colmatación de los embalses hasta del 29%, reducción del volumen útil hasta del 22% y del volumen muerto de hasta 84%, en los casos considerados. Abstract. Empirical methodologies from Southafrica, China, Pakistan and Iran, formulated to predict longitudinal distribution of delta formations in reservoirs, are showed and evaluated in Colombian reservoirs such as Betania in Huila, Prado in Tolima and La Esmeralda in Boyacá, at differents times from start of operations. Nine of those methods allow estimation of topset slope and two foreset slope. Most of the analyzed methodologies need large amounts of topographic, hydrologic and sedimentological data that was difficult to access and not completely available for this analysis. Borland (1970) and relations J/Jo referred in WMO (2003) methods showed the smallest differences with field measurements. Other methods resulted between acceptable and poor but variable on each reservoir. At analyzed cases were observed sedimentation rates between 3 and 42 Hm3/year, reservoir storage reduction up to 29%, usable storage reduction up to 22% and death storage reduction up to 84%.     Authors: S. A. Schmidt; A. Camerlengo;

    Authors: Víctor A. Yzocupea;
